DISCOVER PARALLEL

Instructions
Step 1.  Construct[br]One the GeoGebra page you will see four geometric objects:[br]1. Point A[br]2. Point B[br]3. Point C[br]4. Line BC[br]On the Tool Bar there is a PARALLEL LINE [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_parallel.png[/icon] tool.Click on the PARALLEL LINE tool to select it.  [br][br]Notice the instructions for this GeoGebra tool: SELECT POINT AND PARALLEL LINE.[br][br]Click first on Point A and then click on Line BC.  This will create a new, parallel line. But just what is a parallel line?[br][br]Step 2.  Experiment[br]Use the MOVE tool [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_move.png[/icon]to experiment by moving Points A, B, or C. Move the two lines as well. Make observations. If needed, use the ZOOM IN [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_zoomin.png[/icon]or ZOOM OUT [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_zoomout.png[/icon] tools to change your view. [br][br]Step 3. New Construction[br]Use the DELETE OBJECT [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_delete.png[/icon] tool to click on the points and lines on the GeoGebra page and delete them. Now use the NEW POINT [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_point.png[/icon] tool, the LINE THROUGH TWO POINTS [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_join.png[/icon] tool, and the PARALLEL LINE [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_parallel.png[/icon] tool to create your own parallel lines and again experiment by moving points or lines.[br][br]Step 4. Conclusions[br]So just what is a parallel line?  Share your conclusions with your teacher.
