Using the MOVE [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_move.png[/icon] tool, click on CLICK TO SEE LINE SEGMENTS check-box.[br][br]Imagine what design would be created if you could make an exact copy of each shape and then fold it over along the dotted orange lines.  Another way to think about this process is to imagine a reflection of each shape in a mirror located along the dotted orange line. [i]GeoGebra [/i]will do this reflecting for you.[br][br]Select the REFLECT OBJECT ABOUT LINE tool [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_mirroratline.png[/icon].[br]To use this tool, first click on the red shape then click carefully on the dotted orange line segment touching the red shape. Using the MOVE tool [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_move.png[/icon], click the check-box to turn-off the dotted orange line segments.  Now you can see your new red shape created by reflecting the original red shape along the line segment. Using the MOVE tool [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_move.png[/icon], click on the check-box again to turn on the lines on.[br][br]Now use the REFLECT OBJECT ABOUT LINE tool [icon]https://www.geogebra.org/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_mirroratline.png[/icon] to reflect the remaining five shapes.  [br]Before you do each, try to imagine what the resulting shape will look like.[br][br]Using the MOVE tool [icon]https://www.geogebra.org/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_mirroratline.png[/icon], click the check-box to turn-off the dotted orange line segments. Now you can see all your new shapes created by reflecting along the line [br][br]Each of these new shapes has a characteristic that geometers call [b][i]symmetry[/i][/b].[br]Using the MOVE tool [icon]https://www.geogebra.org/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_mirroratline.png[/icon], click on the check-box again to turn-on the lines. [br]The dotted orange line segments are called the [b][i]line of symmetry[/i][/b] of each new shape.
