iPad Rotation: Rolling and Sliding

This is a simulation showing various round objects given an initial translational velocity but zero initial rotational velocity. The objects slip as the slide until eventually they begin to roll without slipping. You can adjust the type of object, the initial velocity, the amount of kinetic friction, and the mass and radius of the object. Use the check boxes to run, pause, and reset the animation. When the object begins to roll without slipping values are given for the final velocity, rotational kinetic energy, translational kinetic energy, and the amount of thermal energy that was created. Also, the distance of slipping is shown.
