Directions:
For each triangle, you are given two of the three vertices. Your goal is to plot the third vertex of the triangle and use coordinate geometry to defend your coordinates. [br][br]Use the polygon tool to shade in the triangle.
MathBits Notebook - Types of Triangles
Triangle 1: Scalene Triangle
Given: segment AB with A(3, 1) & B(1, 4)[br][br]Plot point C such that [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]ABC is a scalene triangle.
Prove [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]ABC is a scalene triangle.
Triangle 2: Right Triangle
Given: segment DE with D(3, 1) & E(1, 4)[br][br]Plot point D such that [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]DEF is a right triangle.
Prove [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]DEF is a right triangle.
Triangle 3: Isosceles Triangle
Given: segment GH with G(3, 1) & H(1, 4)[br][br]Plot point I such that [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]GHI is an isosceles triangle.
Prove [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]GHI is an isosceles triangle.
Triangle 4: Equilateral Triangle
Given: segment JK with J(3, 1) & K(1, 4)[br][br]Construct point L such that [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]JKL is an equilateral triangle.
Prove [math]\bigtriangleup[/math]JKL is an equilateral triangle.
