CG 7 Dilations

I. [math]\Delta[/math]ABC has been dilated using the ordered pair rule (x, y) [math]\rightarrow[/math] ([math]\frac{1}{2}[/math]x, [math]\frac{1}{2}[/math]y). [br]Use GeoGebra tools to answer the questions below.
Observations
1. Compare the lengths of corresponding sides. What do you notice?[br]2. Compare the measures of corresponding angles. What do you notice?
II. Try the dilation tool, using point X as your center of dilation. Experiment with scale factors between 0 and 1 as well as greater than 1. See what effect moving point X has on the image.
What effect did using a scale factor between 0 and 1 have on the image?
What effect did using a scale factor greater than 1 have on the image?
Move point X to the origin. What ordered pair rule maps the pre-image onto the image? [br]Use [i]k[/i] to represent your chosen scale factor.
III. Investigation- Dilations of Circles: Follow the directions from and record your answers in your notes.
