Matchbox Metrics Attempts

Each lab group has the same vehicle (2007 Volvo XC-70) before them. You will need to determine lengths of different areas of your vehicle. The areas that must be measured are: (a) Wheelbase (measure axle to axle), (b) Length, (c) Height, and (d) Width of the vehicle, as well as the (e) tire rim diameter.

Using real data you must determine the following: 1) Is the vehicle to scale? Give reasons why your calculated scales vary. 2) What is your vehicle’s average calculated scale? 3) Using average calculated scale, state what size tire rims are on the vehicle in millimeters and inches. Note front or back tire as some differ. Show any and all calculations (label them with short titles and include units; approximately 11 calculations). You will be making a lot of conversions between the metric and “English” system.
