angle opposite to the longer side of a triangle is larger
Text for instruction box in top of left hand side:-[br]We can see a triangle ABC in blue color. Angle BAC = α, angle ABC = β and angle ACB = У. Points A, B, and C are free points. Move these three points and see how the shape of the triangle, length of the sides and angles get changed
Question to think about;[br][br]1. For a given triangle, let’s arrange its sides in ascending order of their lengths. For the same triangle, let’s arrange its angles in ascending order of their values?[br]2. What do we observe? Which sides and angles are opposite each other?
The angle opposite to longest side is greatest
On the screen , you see a triangle ABC in red colour. As we will drag the vertices of the triangle, the length of sides AB(c),BC(a),AC (b) will change and the measure of angles opposite to these sides will also change. Observe the angle opposite to the longest side will always be greater than the other two angles
1. Set the length of a such that a> b and a>c. Compare angle A with angle B and C?[br]2. Set the length of b such that b> a and b>c. Compare angle B with angle A and C?[br]3. Set the length of c such that c> a and c>b. Compare angle C with angle A and B?[br]4.Compare the measures of angles A, B and C when a = b and c is the longest side
