We have already learned how to construct a perpendicular bisector. As a reminder, to bisect something means to cut it in half.[br][br]So, a perpendicular bisector cuts a segment in half (at a right angle).
1. Estimate the location of a point, D, so that angle DBA is approximately congruent to angle CBD. Then, use the tool to draw ray BD. (Note: a "ray" is a line the stops on one end and continues on the other end)[br][br]2. Measure angles DBA and CBD with the angle measurement tool. Make sure you click the letters in the correct order.
Based on what you know about the word bisect (see above), what is an angle bisector?
When you create ray BD in this manner, you see that ray BD is NOT a true angle bisector.[br]Explain in sentences why this method doesn't work.[br][br]Sentence Frame: "This method doesn't work because ___."
