Throwing Motions - Lesson Plan

Lesson Information

Topic: Throwing motions[/*]
9th form, physics[/*]
Duration: 2 - 3 lessons[/*]
Special Requirements: 1 laptop per 2 persons[br][/*]
[br]The students should get to know the characteristics of throwing motions. In the second lesson there will be a example with a tennis ball. All tasks can be solved with Geogebra appletts.
Previous Knowledge
The only previous knowledge the students need, is to know a square function and a parabola. If you are a physics teacher it is recommended to talk to the class' math teacher.
Learning Outcomes and Learning Goals

The students will get to know the characteristics of throwing motions.[/*]
The students will find out which parameter effects how on the motion. [/*]
After the lessons the students will be able to recognise different motions in their everyday life as throwing motions.[/*]
Description of Lesson Activities

The students will find out on their own, how different parameter of a throwing motion effect on the width of the motion. [br][/*]
The students will only use two Geogebra applets and two worksheets. [/*]
The technology should be used in the very beginning of the topic. [/*]
Overall throwing motions (50- 100 min)
The students will have time to answer the questions on the given worksheet by the following Geogebra applet.
Worksheet throwing motion
Application of throwing motion in tennis (50 min)
The students will have time to answer the questions on the given worksheet by the following Geogebra applet.
Worksheet tennis
Evaluation / Homework
I assume there should not be any homework due to the fact that physics is not a main subject. It is possible to test the knowledge of the students with a short exam.
