De muqarnas of the southwest iwan of the Friday Mosque of Isfahan are devided in two parts. In the front part squares and rhombuses support half a 8-pointed star. In the back part they surround an octagonal shaped dome. In this activity we take a look at the front part.

In the next picture you can see that the muqarnas consist of very large cells.
