Rotations

Questions to Consider
1. Move the points A, B and C on the preimage. What do you notice?[br][br]2. What do you notice about how the coordinates change with each rotation? Are there any patterns?[br][br]3. Select Point A rotation. What is the slope of the line from A to A'180? What is the slope of the line from A'90 to A'270? How are these lines related?[br][br]4. Still leaving Point A rotation selection, move point A to (3,5). To go from point O to point A, you would then move UP 3 UNITS and RIGHT 5 units. How would you move to get from point O to point A'180? What are you noticing?[br][br]4. Leave Point A rotation selected and point A at (3,5). To go from point O to point A'90, you would go UP 3 UNITS and LEFT 5 UNITS. How would you move to get from point O to point A'270? What are you noticing?[br][br]5. If you know the movement from point O to point A, summarize how you can find A'90, A'180 and A'270 starting at point O.

Reflection Rules

Move Point A by changing the coordinates on the sliders. Check the boxes to see how point A will reflect across the x-axis, y-axis, y=x and y=-x.
