In an applet that shows as well the 2D Graphics and the 3D View, we can build and show the 2D plan of the muqarnas and the 3D realisation as a result of piling up muqarnas units.[br]On the 3D Toolbar you can use custom tools to create the units upon 2 or 3 supporting vertices and build up the muqarnas construction. The custum tools and their arrangement correspond with the custom tools in the Graphics. [br]7 dropdown menu's each contain 2 tools. [br]

On top you always find the tools for a full unit.[/*]
Below you can find the tools for the corresponding intermediate unit.[br][/*]
Most elements are defined by 3 points:[br]

Click in the Graphics to define the position of the red defining point of the unit,[/*]
then click counterclockise two times in the Graphics to define the position of the 2 blue points. [/*]
For elements with 2 points defining the back wall of the unit the red point is the left one when looking towards the center of the muqarnas.[/*]
Note: [br]

All three defining points of a full units are situated on the same height.[/*]
For intermediate units to fill in the gap between two full units, the central point is situated lower than the two outer ones. You can use this lower central point. There's no need to create an extra point at the same height as the outer ones.[/*]
From left to right we've got [br]

the square,[/*]
the rombus[/*]
the almond and the small biped[/*]
the jug and the large biped[/*]
the half square[/*]
the half rhombus[/*]
the almond and the little biped, combined in reverse order.[/*]
Combining full and intermediate units one can fill in squares ans rhombuses on the plan in different ways.[br]

A square on the plan can be realised in 3D with a full or intermediate square, as the combination of a full with an intermediate half square or as the combination of a large biped with a jug.[/*]

A rhombus on the plan can be realised in 3D with a full or intermediate rhombus, as the combination of a full with an intermediate half rhombus, as the combination of an intermediate small biped with a full almond or as the combination of an intermediate almond with a full small biped.[/*]
In the following applet you can experiment with a 2D plan and a 3D construction.[br]The tiles drawn in the 2D Graphics will be displayed in the xOy Plane of the 3D window. [br]You can use the points to create the 3D elements on it. You can hide the oXy Plane clicking on the checkbox.[br]If you wish you can drag the bar between 2D and 3D window.
