Definition of Absolute Value

The absolute value of a number is the distance that the number is from the origin[br]on a number line. You can use the Big Blue dot to change the number. The[br]absolute value of the number will be displayed to the user.[br][br]The [b]absolute value[/b] of a number is not [b]positive[/b] or [b]negative[/b], it is[b] non-negative![/b] It has no sign/direction ever.
This applet can be used by teachers in a demonstration mode in the classroom or teachers can have students load it on their own computers as a worksheet to be completed for a grade.
