4. What is the difference between average velocity and instantaneous velocity?
Average velocity is always measured from the reference point. That is why, even at 10 s the average velocity is to the east. The displacement is to the east and if you were to start at the reference point you would need to go east to get there.[br][br]Instantaneous velocity is the velocity at the instant that you choose to measure. In this case, at 10 s, your instantaneous velocity will be 2.0 m/s west because that is the direction it is going. We will talk about instantaneous velocity more later.
