Use of Standard Form

For Example: Find an equation where the line is parallel to 3x+4y=17 and it contains the point (2,8).[br]

First we'll look at the at what the answer will look like 3x+4y= H, placing a variable where C will be to show what we're solving for. First we´ll take the values for x and y and plug them into the equation, making it 3(2) + 4(8) = H . Second thing we'll be doing is multiplying what´s inside the parentheses and what is on the outside of them making the equation, 6+ 32 =H. Then for the final result to receive the value of H, add both number, H = 38. The final equation in standard form would be, 3x + 4y = 38. [br][/*]
