Helicopter vs. Taxi
In TaxiCab geometry we have to stick to the streets. We can't drive on buildings. The shortest [br][br]distance from point A to point B is always the addition of the legs of the triangles. In this triangle 3 [br][br]blocks down and 5 blocks to the right, which add up to 8 blocks.
In Euclidian geometry the shortest distance between two points is always a straight line. The path of [br][br]the helicopter is the shortest distance in this case [math]3^2+5^2=c^2[/math]which makes [math]c=\sqrt{34}[/math]which makes [br][br]c = 5.83 blocks.
