IM 8.1.5.2: Reflecting Points on the Coordinate Plane
Five points are plotted on the coordinate plane.
Question 1
a. Using the Pen tool[icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_pen.png[/icon] or Text tool [icon]/images/ggb/toolbar/mode_text.png[/icon], label each point with its coordinates.[br] b. Using the [math]x[/math]-axis as the line of reflection, plot the image of each point.[br] c. Label the image of each point with its coordinates.[br] d. Include a label using a letter. For example, the image of point [math]A[/math] should be labeled [math]A'[/math].
Question 2
If the point [math]\left(13,10\right)[/math]were reflected using the [math]x[/math]-axis as the line of reflection, what would be coordinates of the image? What about [math]\left(13,-20\right)[/math]? [math]\left(13,570\right)[/math]? Explain how you know.
Question 3
The point [math]R[/math] has coordinates [math]\left(3,2\right)[/math].[br] a. Without graphing, predict the coordinates of the image of point [math]R[/math] if point [math]R[/math] were reflected using the [math]y[/math]-axis as the line of reflection.[br] b. Check your answer by finding the image of [math]R[/math] on the graph.
c. Label the image of point [math]R[/math] as [math]R'[/math].[br] d. What are the coordinates of [math]R'[/math]?
Question 4
Suppose you reflect a point using the [math]y[/math]-axis as the line of reflection. How would your describe its image?
