Solving Linear Systems by Graphing: Investigation

Objective
Practice graphing linear equations. Extend your knowledge to include when two lines are graphed. Recognize what it means to be a solution to a system of equations.
Directions: Read carefully!
In the applet below, note the equations displayed to the right of the graph. [br][br]One equation is displayed in pink.[br]The other equation is displayed in purple.[br][br]The lines graphed, however, do not match the current equations given. [br][br]Directions: [br][br]1) Move the pink points (of the pink line) to mark the correct starting value or zero figure and one other point on that line using the slope or growth. [br][br]2) Move the purple points (of the purple line) to mark the correct starting value or zero figure and one other point on that line using the slope or growth. [br][br]3) Look at where the lines intersect (touch). Type this point for the x and y coordinate into where it says "Enter Solution Here." [br][br]4) Click away on the applet when you enter the points. If it is correct, it will appear on the graph and you have solved the system![br][br]5) Hit the new problem button to get a new problem.
On the graph, what does the solution to a system of equations look like?
Was there a time when the lines did not intersect? Describe using what you know about the rule.
Was there a time when the lines intersected more than once? Describe.
