Performing Rigid Transformations

Performing Rigid Transformations Assessment
Today we will be drawing on our knowledge of reflections, translations, and rotations to perform rigid transformations. This assessment is to test your knowledge on how to perform these transformations on a grid. Make sure to carefully read and follow the directions for each question. [br][br]For questions 1-6, you will be asked to perform a single transformation to a geometric figure. Make sure that you not only perform the correct transformation, but that you rename your image correctly as stated in the directions.[br][br]For question 7, you will be asked to perform multiple transformations on a geometric figure. Make sure that you perform the correct transformations in the correct order that they are listed. You must also rename your image appropriately along the way.[br][br]Question 8 is a short answer response question that is directly related to question 7. Make sure to read the question carefully before responding.[br][br]You will have until the end of this class period to finish the assessment.
Question 1
REFLECT ABC over the y-axis. Rename your image A'B'C'.
Question 2
REFLECT WXYZ over the line y = 1. Rename your image W'X'Y'Z'.
Question 3
ROTATE LMN 180[math]^\circ[/math] counterclockwise. Rename your image L'M'N'.
Question 4
ROTATE RST 90[math]^\circ[/math]clockwise. Rename your image R'S'T'.
Question 5
TRANSLATE PQRS using the rule (x+2, y-1). Rename your image P'Q'R'S'.
Question 6
TRANSLATE XYZ using the rule <-3, 5>. Rename your image X'Y'Z'.
Question 7
For this question you will be performing multiple transformations to a triangle. Make sure you do these transformations in the correct order and label your new images properly.[br][br]1. ROTATE ABC 270[math]^\circ[/math] clockwise and rename your image A'B'C'.[br]2. TRANSLATE A'B'C' using the rule (x+10, y-2) and rename your new image A''B''C''.[br]3. REFLECT A''B''C'' over the x-axis and rename your new image A'''B'''C'''.
Question 8
Look at your final image, A'''B'''C'', from Question 7. If you were to perform the SAME EXACT transformations in the REVERSE order as you did in Question 7 on A'''B'''C'', would it take you directly back to ABC? Explain your reasoning why you think that it will or will not match up to ABC.
