Base-10 is the most recognizable base and most people use it in their day to day lives. It consists of ten one-digit numbers: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. These numbers are what we use to then go on and create longer "strands" of numbers. Base-10 is realatively easy to understand, but can be highly inefficient for computers which prefer only two states, on and off. It can be converted to base two and five rather easily but not as easily others. The place values are 1, 10, 100, 1000,... (Once again all of these represent powers of ten, and an easy way to remember is by adding a zero to the end each time.).
