In dome2 it looks as ribs are connecting the midpoints of adjacent sides, but the support points of the ribs are just shifted slifhtly away from these midpoints. This makes the diagonal placed square in the middle doesn't touch the sides of the basic square.[br]This second square supports a second, smaller dome, rotated by 45° regarding to the basic square.
