To help us in our dilemma, we need to learn another math strategy to put in your tool box.[br][br][b]Strategy #3: Partitioning a Line Segment[/b][br][br]This is one possible strategy you could use for this activity in case this is the most equitable solution.[br][br]We'll look at an example to practice
The word [b]partition[/b] means to divide into parts.[br][br]First, determine how many total parts are involved.[br][br]For this problem, there are 5 total parts. One group has 2 parts and the other group has 3 parts so added together there are a total of 5 parts. This means that we need to divide the line segment AB into 5 equal parts.[br][br]Now we need to figure out where Point P would go on the line segment so there is one group of 2 to the left of Point P and the other group of 3 is to the right of Point P.
Add a Point P so that there are 2 equal segments on the left and 3 equal segments on the right
