The slope is the change in the y value over the change in the x value, called rise over run. It is shown as [math]\frac{Y2-Y1}{X2-X1}[/math] or [math]\frac{\Delta Y}{\Delta X}[/math].
To find the slope using the slope equation, put the y-coordinate of point B in place of [math]Y2[/math] and the x-coordinate of point B in place of [math]X2[/math]. Put the y-coordinate of point A in place of [math]Y1[/math] and the x-coordinate of point A in place of [math]X1[/math]. Now you should have [math]\frac{4-1}{4-\left(-1\right)}[/math]. Subtract the numbers to get the answer [math]\frac{3}{5}[/math] or 0.6
