In a school laboratory, a group of students is trying to make the perfect homemade ice cream for a science competition. They discover that the mixture cools down following this formula: [br][math]T(t)=28−2t[/math] [br]where [math]T(t)[/math] is the temperature and "t" is the time in minutes. If the ice cream is ready when it reaches 8ºC how many minutes will they need to wait?

They will need to wait [b]5 minutes[/b] because the temperature only needs to drop a little bit. They will need to wait [b]20 minutes[/b] because the temperature decreases very slowly. They will need to wait [b]10 minutes[/b] because the temperature goes down by 2 degrees every minute until it reaches 8∘C8^\circ C8∘C They will need to wait [b]14 minutes[/b] because the ice cream must freeze completely before it is ready.
