This applet shows the contour map for [math]f(x,y) = y^2 +4y - x^2 y [/math] (in black and red) as well as the constraint [math]g\left(x,y\right)=x^2+y^2=9[/math] (in blue). Our objective is to find the locations where f has a maximum or minimum value subject to the constraint.
