Ethnomathematics: Reflection in Jepara Carving
In the application of the concept of reflection, this occurs in the process of drawing a pattern on carving media (wood) so that the nature of reflection occurs in the results of the engraving. In the process of making a pattern image on the carving media, the engraver only needs to make a part of the pattern, then the engraver places the pattern on the right, bottom, or a certain position which will produce a complete carved motif. In the application of the concept of rotation, this occurs in the process of drawing a pattern on carving media (wood) so that the nature of rotation occurs in the results of the engraving. In the process of making a pattern image on the carving media, the engraver will change the size of the pattern that has been made (enlarge or reduce it) so that it looks more beautiful and varied which will produce a complete carved motif.
