Vector Projection in Two-Dimensions

Description and activities
This applet shows the vector V[sub]B[/sub] projected in the direction of another vector V[sub]A[/sub].[br]V[sub]B[/sub] can be moved by moving the point B. The vector A is controlled with angle alpha and magA sliders. Trace Tip checkbox will trace the tip of the projected vector while you change Vector VA direction.[br][br]With alpha set to zero, note that the projection is the same as the x component of VB.[br][br]What happens to the projection as the magnitude of V[sub]A[/sub] is changed? The calculation of the projection uses the unit vector for VA which is indicated with magA = 1.[br][br]Next vary the angle alpha. Where is the projection the largest? Where is the projection smallest? Trace tip might help to note there are two answers to each of the above two questions. [br]How many times does the trace tip go around the circle as VA makes one complete revolution?
