Reflecting Functions

The function f(x) is reflected across the x-axis to produce the graph of g(x)=-f(x). The function f(x) is reflected across the y-axis to produce the graph of h(x)=f(-x). The function f(x) is reflected across both axes to produce the graph of j(x)=-f(-x).

1. Turn off all checkboxes. 2. Redefine function f by entering the following in the input bar: f(x) = If[-3 < x < 2, x+2, If[2 < x < 5, -2x + 8, 5 < x < 7, 2x-12]]. 3. Predict what the graph of g(x)=-f(x) will look like, then turn on the checkbox to verify your results. 3. Predict what the graph of h(x)=f(-x) will look like, then turn on the checkbox to verify your results. 3. Predict what the graph of j(x)=-f(-x) will look like, then turn on the checkbox to verify your results.
