GeoGebra Book: Use of GeoGebra in secondary schools: a playful learning

Internal activities evaluating students from State School Prof. Antônio Corrêa de Oliveira, located in a small city of Brazil named Araxá, has shown that many students have difficult in learning some aspects of mathematical functions throught the secondary school. Considering the current situation and the available resources, this project was developted collectively with undergraduate students from the University of Araxa (Centro Universitário do Planato de Araxá) who were willing to improve their own basic skills and contribute to the learning of others. The following activities were proposed and supervised by Prof. Marcia Prado who teaches in both mentioned institutions. The exercises are all based in some kind of art, from cartoons to designs of a stylist. At the end, students should be able to: - show the domain of a function; - draw graphs of funcions of one real variable; - find intersection of two functions; - recognize the translational movement of a figure and relate it to its equations; - handle different equations to represent predefined designs.
