Draw the perpendiculars from D to the triangle sides. When/if the perpendiculars are equal, the circle is tangent to the triangle sides. Now, once the hunch has been suggested, how can we allow the user to automate it?

Pass a circle through the three points of intersection. Let the circle be compelled always by a force in the direction which equalizes the sides.
