UCSS Math III 4B.2.3 Example 1

For the functions [math]f(x)=\frac{1}{2}(x + 6)[/math] and [math]g(x)=-x-2[/math], find the sum [math](f + g)(x)[/math] and simplify the resulting expression if necessary. Verify both algebraically and graphically that [math](f + g)(x)[/math] and [math]f(x) + g(x)[/math] yield the same result. Use [math]x = 3[/math] as a test value.
