This is a description used to foster discussion in my math classes at the beginning of a unit on Deductive Reasoning (in Geometry) and Linear Functions (in Algebra 2). The plan is to have groups talk about their ideas in solving this problem and to bring up the ideas of assumptions, constant rate of change, and the use of proportional reasoning.
