Number and Algebra Disc Manipulation with Zero Pairs (Basic)

This activity uses the number and algebra discs model for basic understanding of addition and subtraction of numbers and variable (single) model. Use the discs to represent given expressions in the drop down list displayed. Then, if the expression can be simplified by combining like terms, ie. add or subtract like terms, do so, and represent the final expression using the discs as well. This activity is the public copy of the work done at https://www.geogebra.org/m/jxj8vazd This tool will continue to be developed, and users are welcome to feedback to author for improving the design or to additional features and use cases. Read about how zero pairs are used in negative number artihmetic in this article at https://www.researchgate.net/publication/333816409_Addition_and_subtraction_of_negative_numbers
