Duality: Basis vs Coordinate Functions

This linear algebra applet illustrates the relationship between a basis and its dual on a plane. The dual basis consists of coordinate functionals; each functional is represented via inner product with the appropriate vector on the plane. Since many linear algebra students in North America are already familiar with multivariable calculus, the applet appeals to the geometric intuition developed in that course. However, the applet can also be discussed without any references to vector calculus.
