Complex numbers hate making sense

Took the equation (x+yi)^1/n and managed to find both curves, and a surface that completely throws many (mostly of my) ideas of what complex numbers "are" out the window. Mostly because both curves came from the second (blue/purple) surface, which itself came from (1+ui)^1/n (where u=y/x). Nothing makes sense, but it all still works. This must therefore be because Complex numbers just hate making any sense.
