Eine mechanische Konstruktion für die Würfelverdopplung, die Platon zugeschrieben wird. Dann sind (PV) ̅ und (PS) ̅ die mittleren Proportionalen zu (PC) ̅ und (PD) ̅=2 (PC) ̅, also die Seitenlängen der beiden Würfel.
