I am a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, 2019-20 visiting at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. I have a long time interest in making sense of mathematics with visualizations- at levels from basic algebra and geometry through real and complex analysis, linear and abstract algebra, and projective and hyperbolic geometries, both synthetic and algebraic. My current focus is on using mapping diagrams to visualize the analysis of functions and solving equations in many contexts using GeoGebra in 2 and 3 dimensions for real and complex variables.
I make presentations at colleges and universities and national and regional meetings and conferences using GeoGebra. Recent presentations were at the 2018 Joint Math Meetings in San Diego, CA, the 2018 British Congress of Mathematics Education at University of Warwick, England, ICTCM 2019 in Scottsdale, AZ, MEI Conference 2019 in Bath, UK, the Bridges 2019 Conference in Liinz, Austria, and the 2020 Joint Math Meetings in Denver, CO.,
